WHAT IS SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION (SMP)?
Scalp Micropigmentation is a revolutionary concept in hair loss solutions using the art of tattooing. If you are suffering from hair loss due to male pattern baldness, hormonal factors, aging, trichotillomania, alopecia, or have an FUE scar that needs to be camouflaged, you will greatly benefit from this procedure. Simulated hair follicles are carefully patterned and applied by hand to bring back a visible hair line or fill in density where needed.
Each session takes 2-4 hours depending on the area needing to be filled with desired and lasting results in 2-3 sessions; your quote price will include all required sessions. This is a cosmetic tattoo that is a fraction of the cost of FUE and will leave you with impressive, instant results and an immediate confidence boost from the first session! The healing process is roughly 10-14 days between each appointment, with your first and final treatments completed within 6 weeks.
You’ll be amazed with the real and natural looking results that you’ll see from the very first completed session! Consultations can be done by phone with clear photos required in order provide a quote for services. A simulated before and after of your hair line or density fill-in can be provided for a fee. Please call for more details. Pigments used for the scalp are Five O’Clock Shadow brand and differ from the eyebrow pigments. 5 O'Clock Shadow is made to withstand the oiliness that is common on the scalp with the scalp having the most sebaceous glands than anywhere else on the body.
WHAT IS MICROBLADING & SHADING?
This technique is a modern form of permanent cosmetics that combines the 3D hair strokes of Microblading at the head of the eyebrow with the added powdery, shaded effect of Microshading throughout. This treatment creates fullness and depth and lasts significantly longer than Microblading alone. Expect results to last anywhere from 2-3 years. It is perfect for all skin types, especially those that have oily or sensitive skin.
Simulated hair strokes are expertly created and applied by hand with a disposable blade between the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin and the strokes appear very natural and indistinguishable from real brow hair. The shading saturates the brows with pigment using a machine and disposable cartridge, giving a soft gradient color effect and the appearance of wearing makeup on the brows.
People suffering from alopecia, trichotillomania or any other condition resulting in hair loss benefit greatly from Microblading & Shading, as well as those who want to disguise previously faded permanent cosmetics.
Microblading & Shading typically takes two appointments for optimal results with specific prep and aftercare required. Your Microblading & Shading procedure should be completely healed in 30 days after your initial appointment. The follow up appointment is a touch up at least 30 days after the first session, but not past 8 weeks. The healing period allows the color to settle and for the skins natural cell turnover rate to complete the healing process. Some slough off of the skin in the treated area is normal during this time. In your touch up appointment, the cosmetician can see how your skin has received the pigment and make any necessary corrections.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) yields 5-7 years lasting results but with varying lifestyle factors involved in maintaining the integrity of the tattoo, there may be an annual touch-up session required much sooner.
Microblading & Shading eyebrows last 2 to 3 years for most people, before it usually needs a touch up. This can vary depending on the skin type and how you take care of the treated area.
DOES IT HURT?
Scalp: The SMP procedure does not use any topical anesthetic as the hair follicles are stippled in with a tattoo needle and not a blade. With the scalp being one of the thickest skin areas in comparison to elsewhere on the body, most clients report little to no pain and most often fall asleep during the procedure. It is less painful than a traditional tattoo.
Brows: Most clients report little to no pain, and would compare it to a brow tweezing session or a little stronger. Many clients fall asleep! Topical anesthetic is applied to the eyebrow at the start of the procedure.
HOW LONG IS THE PROCEDURE?
Scalp: SMP takes approximately 2-4 hours per session with 2-3 treatments required to achieve desired and lasting results.
Brows: Microblading & Shading takes up to 2 hours. At the start of the procedure we first map the brows according to the Golden Ratio of Beauty, known as "Phi", for symmetry and balanced proportion specific to your face and bone structure, which usually takes up to 15 minutes. Once you approve of the brow shape, the topical anesthetic is applied and sits for an additional 20 minutes, afterward the treatment begins.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL?
Scalp: 5-7 days with aftercare beginning the day after your appointment through day 5. See Aftercare for more details.
Brows: In the first 7-10 days, you’ll need to avoid getting them too wet (in the shower), working out (sweating) or wearing brow makeup. Please see Aftercare for more details, however your brows should be healed in 30 days.
WHEN SHOULD I GET A TOUCH UP? HOW MUCH IS IT?
Scalp: Your second session will be scheduled 7-14 from your first session and your final session 30 days later. All session fees are included in your quote.
Brows: Your follow-up appointment is 4-8 weeks after your initial treatment and is included in the price. After this, we charge a fee for an annual color boost for our existing clients.
